Dr. S. Madhu is a distinguished academician, researcher, entrepreneur, and prolific author with over 32 years of experience in teaching and industry. He currently serves as Professor at Jyothy Institute of Commerce and Management, Bengaluru, where he contributes to teaching, research, innovation, and academic leadership. He has been honoured with the position of Honorary Professor at MES College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Malleshwaram, in recognition of his distinguished contributions to teaching, research academic development, and knowledge creation. He holds a Ph.D., M.Com., and MBA, and has previously served as an Invited Professor at the Department of Studies and Research in Commerce, Tumkur University, Tumakuru. His academic career reflects a deep commitment to research excellence, knowledge creation, and the holistic development of students and scholars.
Dr. Madhu is widely recognized as a prolific academic writer, having authored and edited more than 175 books, including 131 authored books, 4 edited volumes, 15 hardbound editions, and 25 e-books. His publications span diverse areas such as management, finance, analytics, information technology, and interdisciplinary research, contributing significantly to both academic scholarship and practical learning. In addition, he has supervised over 350 postgraduate research dissertations and has extended academic mentorship to doctoral scholars.
His research contributions extend across the domains of innovation, research, and intellectual property, with 27 design patents, 6 utility patent publications, and 2 copyrights to his credit. He has published 30 research articles in national and international journals indexed in Scopus and ABDC and contributed 13 book chapters indexed in Scopus. In addition, 4 research papers have been accepted for publication in IEEE-indexed journals/conferences that are Scopus indexed, further strengthening his contributions to scholarly research and technology-oriented knowledge creation. Dr. Madhu actively contributes to the academic and scholarly community as a research reviewer and member of various journal editorial boards, supporting the advancement of quality research and academic publishing.
In recognition of his academic and research contributions, he has received several prestigious honors including the Rooshikumar Pandya Lifetime Achievement Award, the Research Excellence Award (2025), the Innovative Researcher Award, and the Best Intellectual Property Researcher Award. He has also served as a Jury Member for K-Tech, Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS), Karnataka Startup Cell, under the Department of Electronics, IT, BT & Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka.
An accomplished academic leader, resource person, researcher, and sought-after speaker, Dr. Madhu has delivered 100+ invited lectures, keynote addresses, expert sessions, and faculty development programmes at universities, colleges, conferences, and professional forums across the country. His academic engagements encompass research, intellectual property rights, innovation, management, entrepreneurship, human resource management, and emerging business practices, reflecting his sustained commitment to knowledge dissemination, capacity building, and academic excellence.
A passionate advocate of Intellectual Property Rights and innovation, Dr. Madhu has conducted 150+ hours of IPR awareness, training, and capacity-building sessions for students, researchers, faculty members, and academic institutions. He is the founder of the flagship initiative “Knowledge to Protection – Intellectual Property Awareness Series: From Ideas to Rights – Understanding Patents and Copyrights in Academia,” through which he promotes intellectual property awareness, innovation, research, and knowledge protection across India. Through this initiative, he seeks to empower the academic community to transform ideas into knowledge, knowledge into innovation, and innovation into intellectual assets.
Guided by the belief that education, research, innovation, and intellectual property must work together to build a knowledge-driven society, Dr. Madhu advocates integrating the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) with contemporary research and management education.
